The Webber-Lewis family papers include personal correspondence to Carry and Mattie (Webber) Lewis from family and friends. The Webber portion of the collection includes letters discussing a steamboat trip on the White River in Arkansas; army life; Civil War era politics; the pursuit of John Hunt Morgan; criticism of Abraham Lincoln's Emmancipation Proclomation; possible draft in Shelby County; and education of blacks in Kentucky, 1865. The Lewis portion of the collection includes letter to Cory and Mattie Lewis from friends and relatives discussing the school and student life of Oneida Baptist Institute.
